Michael Lip #Ming Vases Series
This series of three mini watercolour painting showcase the well-known Ming vases. In fact, Ming vases are the most internationally sought-after of all ceramics. The milky white and cobalt-blue porcelain was brought to perfection during the Ming Dynasty.
However, blue and white porcelain was not a Ming invention. But during the Yongle emperor’s reign it reached dizzy new heights of refinement. New clay recipes made it possible for vessels to become thinner, and new glazes produced a much purer translucent white and a glossier finish. This series of mini Ming Vases is an innovation in the visual arts by the artist Michael Lip.
In addition, the vases here represent an immersive world. It also stands as the maternal symbol. In this regard, it is positive because it is about nourishment. The vase is supposed to be in the “spill” position most of the time, so it implies water flowing, which is also a maternal symbol.
If you love this this series of 3 mini paintings of Ming Vases, you would definitely love this aesthetic Ming vases and peonies. Also, check out more amazing watercolour paintings by Michael Lip here!

Michael Lip
Michael Lip was born in 1949 in Ipoh, Perak. He calls himself a 'Born Again’ artist. The reason behind has to trace back to his school days. Back then, he was very active in all creative conception and creation. One of the most notable achievements was that he participated in local Art Competitions and Exhibition and had one of his paintings selected for a National Art Gallery Exhibition in the 1960s. However, after his tertiary education, raising a family and advancing his career as a Landscape Architecture filled up his time. He was forced to put aside his passion for painting. Until recent years, when everything was established, he picked up his passion again for crafting, photography, travel, fashion, illustration, gardening, jelly making and general wellbeing. He is now back with the same passion with his many watercolour and acrylic paintings. He wishes to use his story to tell everyone that there are no barriers to success as an artist, regardless age, time and resources. When there is a will, there is a way.
